Xavier Hunter Mitchell-Sandor, a 19-year-old sailor assigned to the USS George Washington, tragically died on April 15, 2022. According to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner of Virginia, Mitchell-Sandor's death was ruled a suicide by gunshot wound. He was found unresponsive aboard the aircraft carrier and was treated by the medical team on board before being transported to Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, where he was pronounced dead.
