In the late hours of a Wednesday night in Norfolk, Virginia, tragedy struck a young man just beginning his adult life. On May 11, 2022, shortly before midnight, police responded to a report of a gunshot disturbance in the 5400 block of Greenplain Road. Upon their arrival, they discovered 22-year-old Marvin J. Milton Jr. suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds.
Emergency services transported him to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries the following day, May 12, 2022. Marvin was a male resident of Norfolk.
Known affectionately to his family and friends as 'Rooster' or 'Ruwop,' Marvin was described as a fun-loving individual with a smile that could illuminate a room. He was anticipating the birth of his first son, Jase, and was a loving boyfriend and step-father. He was known for his outgoing personality and respectful nature. His death left a void in the lives of his loved ones, including his mother, stepfather, six siblings, and a large extended family.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, Norfolk Police Department detectives began a homicide investigation. However, they did not release a motive or any details about potential suspects or the circumstances that led to the shooting. As of late 2025, the case appears to remain unsolved, with no public announcements regarding any arrests made or suspects identified in connection with the death of Marvin J.
