On November 4, 2024, at approximately 11:55 a.m., Norfolk Police responded to a report of a gunshot victim in the 1300 block of Hanson Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered 66-year-old James E. Fortson Jr. suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. He was immediately transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
