In the early morning hours of November 17, 2022, a sense of unease settled over the 1100 block of Church Street in Norfolk, Virginia. At approximately 6:20 a.m., the sharp report of a gunshot shattered the morning calm, prompting calls to the police. Arriving at the scene, officers discovered a man suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. The victim was identified as 47-year-old Bernese Lynn Adams Jr., a male resident of Norfolk.
