Gabriel Martinez, a 24-year-old Navy sailor, was tragically killed on December 3, 2022, in Virginia Beach, VA. Martinez, originally from San Antonio, Texas, was stationed at Naval Station Norfolk and was attending a squadron Christmas party the night he was murdered. After leaving the Omega Bar in Virginia Beach, he was found shot to death on Pickering Street around 2:20 a.m. Police were alerted to the crime by Shot Spotter, a gunfire detection system.
