In the early hours of December 3, 2022, the life of Gabriel Martinez, a 24-year-old active-duty Navy service member, was tragically cut short in Virginia Beach, Virginia. A native of San Antonio, Texas, Martinez was stationed at Naval Station Norfolk and was described by his family as the glue that held them together. On the night of his death, he had been celebrating the holiday season with fellow sailors at a squadron Christmas party.
