Jayden Moore was a 22-year-old Black man whose life was tragically cut short in the spring of 2023. In the wake of his death, his family described their devastation at his sudden loss, creating a fundraiser to give him the memorial he deserved and to say their last goodbyes. He was born on December 7, 2000.
In the early morning hours of March 1, 2023, police in Virginia Beach, Virginia, responded to a call about a shooting.
At 2:44 a.m., officers arrived at the Red Roof Inn on Ballard Court, where they discovered Jayden suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
An investigation into the homicide led police to identify two suspects. The day after the shooting, on March 2, authorities arrested 23-year-old Keon Harris of Henrico. He was initially charged with possession of a firearm by a felon. A second suspect, 22-year-old Tyre Pierre of Chesapeake, was arrested on March 17. Police located him in Florida, and he was held for extradition back to Virginia.
On March 16, detectives secured additional charges against Harris, including second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Pierre was arrested on outstanding warrants for the same two charges. The circumstances that led to the shooting have not been released by investigators. As of the arrests in March 2023, both men were facing charges in connection with Jayden Moore’s death.
