In the early morning hours of March 19, 2023, a Virginia Beach resident named Detral Leron Dozier, a 21-year-old Black male, made a desperate call to 911. He reported that he had been shot. Emergency responders rushed to the 4700 block of Marlwood Way, where they found Dozier suffering from a gunshot wound. He was quickly transported to a local hospital for medical attention, but tragically, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
