In the early hours of a Tuesday morning, the life of 39-year-old Jamey Ramon Kidd was tragically cut short. On December 20, 2022, in Henrico's East End, a suburb of Richmond, Virginia, police responded to a call of a shooting on Byron Street at approximately 1:12 a.m. Upon their arrival, they discovered Jamey, a Black male, and a woman, both suffering from gunshot wounds.
Both individuals were transported to a local hospital for medical attention.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Jamey Ramon Kidd succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. Born on October 6, 1983, Jamey was remembered by his family as a loving father who cherished his children. He had a passion for sports and the outdoors, and was known for his playful and caring nature, especially his close bonds with his mother and grandmother.
The woman found with Jamey at the scene was identified as 29-year-old Jamika Michele Whitehurst. She was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and subsequently arrested in connection with the shooting. Authorities charged Whitehurst with second-degree murder and she is being held at the Henrico County Jail without bond. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting remains ongoing as authorities continue to seek information from the public.
