On an evening in April 2014, a dispute that began over the sale of CDs in a shopping center parking lot escalated into a fatal encounter. The male victim, 44-year-old Antonio Harris, was shot and killed at Southside Plaza in Richmond, Virginia. The conflict started earlier in the day when Harris and his brother had a confrontation with a man named Shawne Cotten. This initial altercation reportedly involved an assault on Cotten and damage to his vehicle.
