In the early morning hours of June 6, 2014, Andrew Perez, a 31-year-old male resident of Camden, New Jersey, was fatally shot. The incident occurred shortly after 3:00 a.m. while Perez was seated in his silver 2005 Honda Civic at a stoplight on the 1400 block of South 9th Street in Camden. An unidentified gunman opened fire, striking Perez multiple times.
One of the bullets pierced the car's fuel tank, causing a leak.
Despite his critical injuries, Perez managed to drive away from the scene. His attempt to flee ended when he crashed into several parked cars at the intersection of 9th Street and Lansdowne Avenue. Emergency services responded and transported him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.
