On the evening of September 7, 2016, in Newark, New Jersey, a 29-year-old Black/African American male named Deshaun Judson was fatally shot in the city's West Ward. Responding to reports of gunfire at approximately 7:50 p.m., Newark police officers discovered Judson unresponsive with gunshot wounds outside a residence on the 100 block of Kenmore Avenue.
