Luis Anibal Lopez, a 43-year-old Hispanic man, was walking to a corner store on East State Street on December 3, 2016, when his life was abruptly ended. At approximately 7:25 p.m., the sound of gunfire echoed through the Cramer Hill neighborhood.
When police arrived at the 900 block of North 33rd Street, they found Lopez lying in the street, having been shot multiple times. He was rushed to Cooper University Hospital, but his injuries were too severe, and he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.
The sudden violence left a gaping hole in the lives of his loved ones. Lopez was a man who reveled in the Christmas season. He had already erected a Christmas tree and had begun shopping, with around 20 gifts already purchased for his children, grandchildren, and godchildren. The community mourned with the Lopez family, holding memorials to remember a man who was a cherished father and grandfather. Despite the ongoing investigation and pleas from authorities for anyone with information to come forward, the case grew cold.
