In the quiet, upscale community of Holmdel, New Jersey, a tragic event unfolded within the walls of a newly purchased home. On August 10, 2017, Arshad Zarak, a 52-year-old male, was found deceased in the master bedroom of his Paddington Court residence. The discovery was made by a teenage male who immediately alerted authorities, bringing a swift police response to the shocking scene.
Upon their arrival, investigators found Mr. Zarak in his bed with two gunshot wounds to the head. Also in the room was his wife, 42-year-old Asma Hussain, who was found on the floor with a single gunshot wound to her head and a firearm in her hand. The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office launched a thorough investigation into the deaths of the married couple, who had moved into the million-dollar home less than a month prior with their family.
The subsequent investigation and post-mortem examinations conducted by the Middlesex County Regional Medical Examiner's Office led
authorities to conclude that the incident was a murder-suicide. It was determined that Asma Hussain shot her husband twice before turning the gun on herself. No other firearms were found at the scene, and there was no indication of any other individuals being involved in the incident. The case was closed without any arrests as the sole suspect was also deceased.
