In the early hours of a Wednesday in Newark, New Jersey, the life of 26-year-old Ian Taylor was tragically cut short. On May 22, 2019, at approximately 12:30 a.m., police responded to a call on the 100 block of Sunset Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered Taylor suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene just moments later, at 12:48 a.m.
The Essex County Prosecutor's Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force, in conjunction with the Newark Police Department,
immediately began an investigation into the fatal shooting. Authorities publicly identified Ian Taylor as the victim and confirmed that the investigation was active and ongoing. At the time of the initial reports, no arrests had been made in connection with the shooting, and law enforcement appealed to the public for any information that might lead to a suspect.
