On a summer evening in Newark, New Jersey, tragedy struck the city's West Ward. Jonathan R. Toledo-Key, a 29-year-old Black / African American male, was found with an apparent gunshot wound on Sunset Avenue on August 6, 2019. Emergency responders arrived at the scene around 6:00 p.m., but it was too late. Toledo-Key was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 6:30 p.m.
