In the late afternoon of March 6, 2023, a single act of violence cut short the life of 19-year-old Calvin C. Scott in Newark, New Jersey. Responding to a report of a shooting at approximately 3:40 p.m., Newark police discovered the young Black man inside a building on the 300 block of South 6th Street, suffering from gunshot wounds.
