In the evening hours of September 14, 2022, a dispute on a Newark street corner turned deadly, leaving a 50-year-old Irvington man, Kyle Eley, dead from multiple gunshot wounds. The fatal encounter unfolded at approximately 7:02 p.m. at the intersection of South Orange and Munn avenues. Responding Newark police officers discovered Eley at the scene, having been shot. He was quickly transported to University Hospital, but his injuries proved too severe, and he was pronounced dead at 7:26 p.m.
