On the evening of May 3, 2023, the life of 8-year-old Zahmire Lopez, a Black male, was tragically cut short in a burst of violence within his Newark, New Jersey home. A vibrant and energetic child known for his love of sports, music, and dance, Zahmire was remembered by his football coach as a talented boy with a bright future.
