On the evening of May 3, 2023, in Newark, New Jersey, 8-year-old Zahmire "Zah" Lopez was tragically killed in a shooting incident at his home on Johnson Avenue. The New Jersey Attorney General's Office reported that police responded to a 911 call around 8:34 p.m., discovering Zahmire and two adult males with gunshot wounds. Zahmire was transported to University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:14 p.m.
