Aubrey Pollard, a 19-year-old African American, was one of the three young men killed during the Algiers Motel incident on July 26, 1967, amidst the Detroit riots. The incident occurred during a period of intense civil unrest in Detroit, which saw widespread violence and numerous fatalities. Pollard, along with Carl Cooper and Fred Temple, was shot to death by police officers who stormed the Algiers Motel, suspecting that snipers were firing at them from the building.
