Charles Knott, a 54-year-old Detroit native, was shot and killed on April 30, 2013, in Detroit, Michigan. Knott, a beloved figure in the community, had spent over 30 years in the Detroit Public Schools system, rising from being a janitor to becoming the longtime coach of the girls’ basketball team at Cody High School. Known for his dedication to his students and the community, Knott was just one month away from retirement when his life was tragically cut short.
