In the early hours of an October morning in 2014, the life of 24-year-old Dennis Shelby was tragically cut short in a hail of bullets on Detroit's northwest side. A barrage of gunfire struck his home in what police described as a drive-by shooting. At the time of the attack, Shelby was inside the house with his mother, her boyfriend, and his nephew; miraculously, they were unharmed.
