A sense of loss settled over a Detroit neighborhood on the evening of July 28, 2024, when the life of Deonte Wiley was cut short by gunfire. The 29-year-old man was in the vicinity of 7 Mile and Goulburn around 8 p.m. when the fatal shooting occurred. His death was a stark reminder of the gun violence that continues to plague the city.
