On July 7, 2024, Phillip Arnold Jr., a 21-year-old resident of Detroit, was shot and killed during a mass shooting at an unauthorized block party near Reno Street and Rossini Drive. The incident occurred just before 2:30 a.m., and Arnold was one of two victims who lost their lives that night; a 20-year-old woman was also killed. In total, the shooting injured 19 others, making it one of the most violent events in recent Detroit history.
