On the evening of Friday, July 20, 2012, a violent incident unfolded in a residential neighborhood of South Bend, Indiana, claiming the life of Charles William Roberts III, an 18-year-old Black male. The events transpired at approximately 6:00 p.m. at a home located at 1101 North Adams Street, near the intersection with Vassar Avenue. Roberts was spending time on the front steps of the residence, accompanied by two friends, when the group was suddenly targeted.
