In the summer of 2014, a senseless act of violence cut short the life of a two-year-old girl, Kamiya LaShawn Gross, in Inkster, Michigan. On July 1st, Kamiya was sitting in a car with her father, Kenneth French, and a family friend in front of their home when the unimaginable happened. A man approached the vehicle and opened fire, striking all three occupants. While Kenneth French and the family friend survived their injuries, Kamiya was fatally wounded by a gunshot to the head.
