In the winter of 2014, a young man from Detroit, Michigan, vanished, leaving his family to grapple with months of uncertainty and anguish. Tyson Logan-Leftwich, a 22-year-old African-American male, was last seen on December 13, 2014. He had left his mother's home with the intention of picking up his father from his job. A subsequent call from his father indicating he no longer needed a ride would be the last known communication before Tyson disappeared. The area of Warren and Beaconsfield on Detroit's east side was the last place he was known to be.
For nearly four agonizing months, his family and friends searched tirelessly, holding onto hope that he would be found safe. Their hopes were tragically shattered in the spring of 2015. On April 3rd, Tyson's body was discovered beneath the porch of a vacant house in the 4200 block of Bedford Street, also on the city's east side. The discovery confirmed their worst fears; he had been the victim of a homicide. An autopsy would later reveal that he had suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head.
The investigation into Tyson's murder has left his family with more questions than answers, as the case remains unsolved. In the years following his death, no suspects have been publicly identified, and no arrests have been made in connection with the crime.
