In the late hours of a Thursday in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, a chain of violent events began that would leave two people dead and a community in shock. Cherie Nicole Turner, a 34-year-old woman, was found shot to death in her home on Warfield Street on February 21, 2019. She was a former server and a member of Faith Church in Elizabethtown, as well as a mother to two daughters.
The investigation into her death quickly focused on her live-in boyfriend, 35-year-old Shadrach Peeler.
Authorities allege that after killing Turner, Peeler went to a T-Mart gas station on North Miles Street. There, he is accused of opening fire, killing the co-owner, Subash “Su” Ghale, and injuring two other individuals.
Following the shootings at the convenience store, Peeler reportedly returned to the scene of the first crime, Cherie Turner's home, where he was apprehended by Elizabethtown police. A grand jury later indicted Peeler on multiple charges, including two counts of murder, assault, tampering with evidence, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and resisting arrest.
