In the quiet, early morning hours of January 11, 2026, a tragedy unfolded in an Elizabethtown, Kentucky, Lowe's parking lot that would cut short the life of 15-year-old Katen Elizabeth Atwell. Believed to be safely at home by her parents, Katen had instead met up with a 15-year-old friend and 21-year-old Bryan Harbison. The get-together, fueled by alcohol that Harbison later admitted to purchasing for the underage girls, took a fatal turn.
