On a summer night in Detroit, Michigan, a burst of gunfire shattered the early morning calm of July 30, 2017, on eastbound Interstate 94. Inside a white Chrysler 200, two aspiring local rappers, a 27-year-old man identified in some sources as Ramell Carter and in others as Ramell Campbell, and his companion, Domonique Brown, were traveling near Livernois Avenue when another vehicle pulled alongside them.
