On a summer afternoon in Detroit, a man's life was tragically cut short in a sudden burst of violence. Leroy Dechun Davis, also known as Shawn, was standing outside a Family Dollar store at the intersection of Tireman and Southfield Service Drive on July 29, 2015. He was waiting for a friend when an unknown individual appeared and opened fire. Struck by the gunfire, Davis died at the scene.
Having recently returned to Detroit from Arizona, he was reportedly planning to go back the day
after he was killed. His death left his family, including his two children, a son and a daughter, searching for answers. The motive for the shooting remains unclear, and the person responsible vanished after the incident.
In the years following the shooting, law enforcement and family members have appealed to the public for information. Crime Stoppers of Michigan offered a cash reward for any tips that could lead to an arrest in the case. Despite these efforts, the case has grown cold, and as of late 2023, there have been no arrests made in connection with the murder of Leroy Dechun Davis. His family continues to hope that someone will come forward with information that could bring them a measure of closure and see justice served.
