In the predawn hours of July 28, 2025, Martin Clay was shot and killed inside a Marathon gas station on Detroit’s west side, in the 3300 block of Puritan Street near Fairfield. Police were dispatched around 3:56 a.m.; medics pronounced Clay dead at the scene, while another victim, 34-year-old Maria Jenkins, died at a hospital a short time later.
