On a cold Sunday evening in Detroit, 38-year-old Donte Cooper, a Black/African American male, tragically lost his life. The date was December 4, 2011, and the events that unfolded on the city's west side would leave a case that remains unsolved. That evening, at approximately 7 p.m., Cooper had just left a party store located in the 10000 block of West McNichols Road, near Griggs Street.
As he exited the store, he had an encounter with an unidentified man. In a sudden act of violence, the unknown individual shot Cooper. The assailant, described as wearing a 3/4 length gray coat, quickly fled the scene. He was seen escaping in an older model, possibly a 2000, gold or champagne-colored Jeep Cherokee.
To this day, the homicide of Donte Cooper remains unsolved, with no publicly available information about any arrests or identified suspects in the case. Law enforcement has sought information from the public to help bring the perpetrator to justice. A reward of up to $2,500 has been offered by Crime Stoppers for any information that leads to an arrest in this fatal shooting.
