Gage W. Schmaltz, a 19-year-old male, was tragically killed in a hit-and-run crash on a Saturday evening in Macomb County, Michigan. He was riding his 2007 Yamaha motorcycle eastbound on 26 Mile Road when a westbound 2005 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by a 29-year-old man from New Baltimore, turned left into a private driveway, striking Schmaltz's motorcycle. The driver of the Chevrolet Equinox fled the scene of the accident.
