In the early hours of a Wednesday morning in May 2016, 27-year-old Mark Toliver was sitting on his front porch on Dickinson Street SE in Grand Rapids, Michigan, when he was fatally shot in the head. The incident, which occurred around 1:45 a.m., left his community in shock and his family seeking answers.
