In the summer of 2021, a young man's life was cut short in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Travon Jeffrey-Jamont Seawood, a 21-year-old male, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 20, 2021. His death was the result of gun violence. Remembered for his winning smile and warm personality, Travon was described as funny, kind-hearted, talented, and brave.
Months after the fatal shooting, an arrest was made in connection with the case.
In November 2021, the Grand Rapids Police Department took 26-year-old Harold Martell Brewer II into custody. Brewer, also from Grand Rapids, was initially arrested on unrelated charges. However, investigators later identified him as the suspect in Travon Seawood's death.
Following the investigation, the Kent County Prosecutor's Office brought several charges against Harold Martell Brewer II. These charges included open murder, two counts of assault with intent to murder, two counts of felony firearm, and firearm possession by a felon. Brewer was subsequently held at the Kent County Correctional Facility.
