On April 14, 2023, Julius Sangboi Hight, a 20-year-old man from Grand Rapids, Michigan, was fatally shot in a drive-by shooting. The incident occurred around 8 p.m. on Batchawana Drive SE, behind the sports facility MSA Woodland. When police arrived at the scene, they found Hight suffering from life-threatening injuries. He was immediately transported to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his wounds.
