Juwan Boykin, a 21-year-old from Grand Rapids, Michigan, tragically lost his life on October 9, 2016, during a shooting at a birthday party held at a strip mall on 28th Street SE. The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning, around 3:45 a.m., at the Clearance Outlet, located east of Kalamazoo Avenue. Boykin was among nine individuals who were shot during the event, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
