In the early hours of a cold Saturday morning, February 16, 2019, the life of 14-year-old Troy “TJ” Wells Jr. was tragically cut short in a burst of violence at a Hampton Inn in Holland, Michigan. The young man, a former student of Holland Public Schools, was attending a party at the hotel, a gathering that would prove to be a fatal intersection of teenage social life and brutal gang conflict.
