In the early morning hours of Monday, December 25, 2006, a life was tragically cut short outside a nightclub in the Bladensburg area. Garfield Steven Jones, a 19-year-old male from Suitland, was fatally shot as he was leaving Irving's Club B-2, located at Jackson Street and 52nd Avenue. The incident, which unfolded following an altercation inside the club that spilled outdoors, also resulted in injury to a 20-year-old woman who was with him. Her injuries were not considered life-threatening.
