On a tragic Saturday morning in Detroit, the lives of two young men were cut short in a violent encounter. Raymond Williams, a 27-year-old man from Ecorse, was discovered in the driver's seat of a sedan, having sustained fatal gunshot wounds. Alongside him in the passenger seat was 29-year-old Anthony Beavers of River Rouge, who had also been shot and killed.
The grim discovery was made on April 4, 2020, at approximately 10:04 a.m.
when medics were dispatched to the area of Keeler and Appoline Streets. Upon their arrival, they found both men unresponsive in the vehicle. Detroit police officers were called to the scene by the medical personnel, who pronounced both Williams and Beavers deceased.
The initial investigation into the double homicide pointed to a suspect, and on April 17, 2020, an arrest was made in connection with the killings. A 21-year-old Detroit woman was taken into custody. Following the arrest, she was formally charged with two counts of first-degree murder, felon in possession of a firearm, and two counts of felony firearm.
The suspect was arraigned on April 20, 2020, and was remanded to jail. Court proceedings were scheduled to follow, with a Probable Cause Conference set for May 5 and a Preliminary Examination on May 11 of the same year.
