On a summer evening in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the life of 29-year-old Dondreal Lee Watkins, a Black male, was tragically cut short. On July 22, 2020, at approximately 6 p.m., gunshots rang out on Woodbury Avenue near the intersection of Ada Street. When officers from the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety arrived at the scene, they discovered Watkins suffering from gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a local hospital, but tragically, he succumbed to his injuries.
