In the winter of 2021, the life of Phillip Charles Napier, a 25-year-old Black male, was tragically cut short in his hometown of Benton-harbor, MI. On the evening of January 24th, Napier was seated in his vehicle near the intersection of Ogden and Division when he was struck by a bullet in the lower abdomen. Responding officers attempted to control the bleeding before he was transported to Lakeland Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries the following day.
