On July 2, 2023, a tragic incident occurred in Benton Township, Michigan, resulting in the death of 30-year-old Toma Turner from Benton Harbor. The Benton Township Police Department responded to a report of a shooting at the Berrien Homes housing complex on Council Drive around 2:40 a.m. Upon arrival, officers found Turner lying in the parking lot with gunshot wounds. Despite attempts to save his life, Turner succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
