In the early morning hours of Saturday, March 13, 2021, the life of Tevin Glaspy, a 29-year-old Black male from Benton Harbor, Michigan, was tragically cut short. The Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety was initially called to the area of Highland and McCord avenues following reports of gunfire. Shortly thereafter, another call directed them to a single-car crash at the intersection of Highland and Hull avenues.
Upon arriving at the scene of the accident, officers discovered Tevin
Glaspy inside the wrecked vehicle. He was unresponsive and had sustained gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of emergency responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators determined that Glaspy had been shot prior to crashing his car.
The Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety, with assistance from the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office and the Michigan State Police, launched a homicide investigation into the circumstances surrounding Glaspy's death. As of the latest available reports, the investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests have been announced, and authorities have not publicly identified any suspects in connection with the shooting. The community continues to await answers and justice for the violent death of Tevin Glaspy.
