In the early morning hours of April 28, 2017, the life of 37-year-old Tavaris Brummette was tragically cut short in his hometown of Benton Harbor, Michigan. Brummette, a Black male known affectionately to friends as 'Gator,' was discovered with severe gunshot wounds at the Heyward Wells apartment complex. Emergency services arrived at the scene and transported him to Lakeland Hospital. Despite the efforts of medical staff, he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.
