On January 21, 2023, Leon "Red" Johnson, a 74-year-old resident of Benton Harbor, Michigan, was found dead in his home located in the 800 block of La Salle Street near the intersection of Paw Paw Avenue and East Main. The Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety initially investigated the death as suspicious, and it was later confirmed to be a homicide.
