In the quiet city of Benton Harbor, Michigan, the life of a beloved 74-year-old man, Leon 'Red' Johnson, was brought to a tragic and violent end in his own home. On Sunday, January 22, 2023, Johnson was discovered deceased inside his residence on LaSalle Street, a place he had called home for nearly five decades. The initial discovery was deemed suspicious by authorities, and it was soon confirmed that Johnson had been shot to death, turning the investigation into a homicide case.

community, who knew Johnson as a respected and caring individual who always looked out for the younger generation, was left in shock. Investigators from the Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety began to piece together the events that led to his death. Their attention quickly turned to surveillance footage from the evening of Saturday, January 21, 2023, which captured three individuals approaching Johnson's front door. This video became a crucial piece of evidence in the search for those responsible.
The investigation led to the identification of three suspects: Emmanuel Williams Jr., Daenerian Evans, and Charles Little Jr. It was alleged that the three men broke into Johnson's home with the intent to steal money or marijuana. During the home invasion, Johnson was shot and killed while reportedly trying to defend himself.
