In the late hours of a Saturday, on August 6, 2022, the life of 19-year-old Elijah Steward was tragically cut short in Inkster, Michigan. Steward, a young male, had just stepped out of the 25 Hour Party Store on Michigan Avenue at Beech Daly when a fatal encounter unfolded. He was with a friend at the time, and what began as a brief verbal exchange with individuals in another vehicle quickly escalated to a moment of irreversible violence.
Witnesses reported that following the brief dispute, a gun was drawn and fired at Steward. The single gunshot proved to be fatal, ending the young man's life in the parking lot of the convenience store. The motive for the shooting was not immediately clear to investigators from the Michigan State Police who took the lead on the case. The investigation progressed, and an accomplice in the shooting eventually turned himself in to the police. This development led authorities to identify their primary suspect as 18-year-old Allen Marion. On September 26, 2022, Marion was apprehended by the Michigan State Police without incident. He was subsequently charged with second-degree murder, discharging a firearm into a building, and felony firearm for his alleged role in the death of Elijah Steward.
