David Bruce Ladner, a 33-year-old Mississippi Highway Patrol Trooper, tragically lost his life on April 12, 1987, following a fatal encounter on Interstate 10 in Harrison County, Mississippi. On April 10, 1987, Trooper Ladner conducted a routine traffic stop and requested consent to search the vehicle.
