Lloyd Silas Jones, aged 66, was the Sheriff of Simpson County, Mississippi, and had served in law enforcement for a total of 39 years. On October 4, 1995, Sheriff Jones was tragically killed in his front yard on Mary Grove Road near Magee, Mississippi. The incident occurred early in the morning when a subject, who had already shot a female near Sheriff Jones' residence, approached his home.
