Sergeant Kevin Gale Stauffer, Jr., a dedicated officer of the Tupelo Police Department, tragically lost his life on December 23, 2013, during a bank robbery incident in Tupelo, Mississippi. Stauffer, aged 38, was responding to a robbery at BancorpSouth bank on South Gloster Street when he and another officer, Joseph Maher, were ambushed by the suspect. As they approached the suspect's vehicle, the assailant opened fire, fatally wounding Stauffer and critically injuring Maher^1^.
